Youth innovation workshop on AI for intelligent manufacturing

In parallel with the afternoon coffee break, the conference will run a Youth Innovation Workshop. A group of selected young professionals and university students nominated by AIM Global partners will form teams to brainstorm creative solutions for applying AI in manufacturing. They will be guided by expert mentors from the conference.

During this workshop, youth teams are given a challenge and, within about 30 minutes, come up with a concept or prototype idea. Mentors will coach them on refining their ideas and relating them to real-world needs.

This session will yield innovative ideas from young talent and empower youth participants. Each team will prepare a very short presentation of their solution concept. The exercise benefits the youth by giving them experience and visibility and benefits the audience by showcasing out-of-the-box ideas that established professionals might not think of. Ideas emerging from the workshop will feed into the subsequent Youth Presentations session.

Youth Presentations

After the workshop, the conference reconvenes for brief presentations by the youth teams. This session allows the young innovators to share their AI solution concepts with all attendees and will integrate the fresh ideas and energy of the next generation into the conference outcomes. Each youth team will have ~2 minutes to pitch their concept, describing the industry problem they addressed and their proposed AI-based and robotics solution.

Expected Outcomes

The audience will receive new and creative perspectives on using AI in manufacturing, highlighting innovative, practical approaches that may spark interest from delegates who could mentor the youth further or even pilot the concepts. More broadly, this session showcases the potential of empowering young talent and reinforces key themes of innovation, inclusion, and capacity-building through real examples.
