Kingston University brings world-class AI for manufacturing expertise, successful industry partnerships, and a commitment to sustainable transformation globally

My organisation

Kingston University is a leading UK institution recognised for its high-quality teaching, research excellence, and strong industry connections. At the heart of our commitment to innovation is the Cyber, Engineering, and Digital Technologies Knowledge Exchange and Research Institute (CEDT KERI), a dynamic hub where academia and industry converge to solve strategic challenges and create lasting impact. The mission of the CEDT KERI is to act as a collaborative bridge, bringing together our world-class academics, talented students, and external partners—from start-ups to global corporations and government bodies. We foster a vibrant ecosystem dedicated to co-creation and knowledge exchange, ensuring that our cutting-edge research translates into responsible, impactful, and sustainable solutions that benefit the economy and society. Our expertise is concentrated in three key areas. Intelligent Sensing combines advanced sensors with AI to build systems that understand complex environments, driving progress in healthcare, robotics, and environmental monitoring. Future Communications and Interactive Digital Media redefine digital connectivity through secure, immersive technologies powered by 5G/6G and AI. Finally, our work in Fluid Dynamics, Materials, and Rocketry enhances propulsion, safety, and sustainable materials for the aerospace, energy, and healthcare sectors. Kingston University's commitment to real-world impact is demonstrated through our highly successful Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) programme, which has been recognised by the UK government for its high engagement with business (KEF 2025). Our partnerships have led to groundbreaking commercial products, such as an AI-powered air quality sensor with a 46% improvement in accuracy, and award-winning solutions for the construction and engineering industries. By partnering with the CEDT KERI, businesses gain access to leading experts, state-of-the-art facilities, and a pipeline of emerging talent, enabling them to de-risk innovation, accelerate growth, and gain a significant competitive advantage.
