ARPE – Action for the Respect and Protection of the Environment is a Cameroonian non‑profit organization established in 2016 in Ngaoundéré. It is dedicated to environmental preservation, biodiversity protection, and the promotion of sustainable development at both local and international levels. ARPE’s mission is to empower communities to manage natural resources responsibly, restore degraded ecosystems, and build resilience against the effects of climate change.
The organization implements a wide range of activities, including awareness campaigns in schools and rural areas, large-scale reforestation projects, and training programs for farmers and local leaders on sustainable agricultural and forestry practices. It also supports initiatives for the conservation of endangered species and the protection of sensitive habitats. By involving youth, women, and marginalized groups, ARPE ensures that environmental action goes hand in hand with social inclusion and economic opportunities.
ARPE has gained international recognition through its observer status with several United Nations bodies, such as ECOSOC, the UNFCCC, the UNCCD, the CBD, and UNEP, and it is accredited by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC). These partnerships enhance its ability to advocate for climate action and to share local experiences on global platforms.
With a strong team of volunteers, experts, and partners, ARPE continues to design innovative projects, including digital tools and educational programs, to inspire sustainable practices. Its vision is clear: to contribute to a greener, healthier, and more resilient planet for current and future generations, starting from Cameroon and reaching out to the world.
