Ponaa Briquettes is a clean energy social enterprise based in Tamale, northern Ghana. We convert agricultural waste such as crop husks and shea residue into eco-friendly briquettes that serve as a sustainable alternative to firewood and charcoal. Our mission is to combat deforestation, reduce indoor air pollution, and improve access to clean cooking energy, particularly in underserved rural communities. Beyond fuel production, we empower youth and women by providing green jobs and digital training in briquette production, distribution, and marketing. We use mobile technology to facilitate orders, digital payments, and remote learning, making clean energy accessible and scalable across northern Ghana and beyond. Ponaa Briquettes is committed to advancing the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly in clean energy (SDG 7), climate action (SDG 13), decent work (SDG 8), and gender equality (SDG 5). Our vision is to lead a green transition in Africa’s energy landscape, one briquette at a time.
