About me

Eng. Mohamed Al Marri is a veteran Emirati technology leader who currently serves in two complementary capacities: Director of Dissemination at the Statistics Centre – Abu Dhabi (SCAD), where he transforms raw government data into accessible insight, and Board Member of the Global Alliance for Artificial Intelligence (GAFAI), guiding the Alliance’s global agenda for responsible AI adoption.

With 30-plus years of experience in information-technology management, statistical production and AI-enabled digital-transformation programmes, Al Marri has steered national-scale initiatives across government, energy and regulatory sectors. Earlier in his career he spent a decade in the oil-and-gas industry before moving on to senior ICT leadership roles, including ICT Manager at the Federal Authority for Nuclear Regulation.

Al Marri is widely recognised for his advocacy of ethical, human-centred AI. He founded and still presides over the UAE Chapter of the Global Council for Responsible AI, sits on the Research Ethics Committee at Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi, and holds advisory-board appointments at both Abu Dhabi University and Zayed University, where he helps align academic research with national AI priorities. These roles amplify his core belief that technological innovation must be paired with rigorous governance and inclusive stakeholder engagement.

His impact has been honoured through multiple accolades, notably the BTX Top Executive Award 2023, the ESRI Presidential Award in GIS Strategy, and the Community Innovative 2025 citation for public-sector digital excellence.

Certified as a CIPME and ITBMC practitioner, Al Marri couples strategic vision with hands-on execution, leading multicultural teams that deploy advanced analytics, geospatial intelligence and AI-driven visualisation platforms. In every setting he champions “data for public value”—the principle that open, trustworthy information ecosystems empower citizens, businesses and policymakers alike.

Today, whether briefing cabinet-level stakeholders on data strategy or shaping GAFAI’s cross-border governance frameworks, Mohamed Al Marri remains focused on a singular mission: to ensure artificial intelligence accelerates sustainable growth while upholding the highest standards of ethics and inclusion for society at large.
